Live music in the neighbourhoods
Away from the ticketed rooms, Barcelona runs a parallel live scene in bars and small halls, much of it free or very close to free.
The Raval and Sant Antoni
The densest strip for small rooms and bars with a stage, from flamenco evenings to post-rock. Walk between venues on a Friday and you will pass three sets without a ticket.
Gràcia
A village-scale neighbourhood with a disproportionate number of small venues and terrace bars hosting sessions, particularly around the squares.
Flamenco and rumba
Catalan rumba was born in the streets off the Rambla, and there are still rooms in the Raval and Barceloneta where it is played properly. Expect a cover charge and a drink minimum.
