Jazz
Barcelona has a genuinely credible jazz infrastructure rather than a tourist version of one, anchored by a couple of long-running clubs and a big autumn festival.
Jamboree
The club on Plaça Reial has been programming jazz since 1960, with live sets nightly and a mix of local players and touring acts. The late sets often turn into a jam.
The Jazz Festival
Running through November into December, with an international programme spread across the Palau, the Liceu and the clubs. It is the best-value time to catch major names.
Other rooms
A music school club in the Raval runs near-nightly sessions, and a handful of bars in Gràcia and Sant Antoni keep a piano and a rhythm section busy through the week.
